Charissa Bender

Star City Figure Skating Coach

Charissa Bender began skating at the age of nine in the Learn to Skate program in Omaha, Neb. Over the next eight years, Charissa dedicated herself to skating and entered competitions in Colorado, California, Texas, and all over the Midwest.

Skating has taught Charissa many life skills such as perseverance, sportsmanship and time management. Charissa began coaching in 2015 as a volunteer coach for the Moylan Premier Learn to Skate program in Omaha. A few months later, she took on additional coaching roles within the Learn to Skate Program and also began teaching private lessons. Charissa is a member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA).

Charissa is excited to share her passion about skating with other students and is dedicated to continue enhancing her coaching skills under the mentorship of Alexei Mantsorov, along with Regional, Sectional, and Junior National qualifying coaches Irene Harm and David Leatherwood. She attends the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she is majoring in Speech-Language Pathology.
